Musical Monday Moves Me: We Didn't Start the Fire

I am devastated about the attack on Israel, this past weekend. Current events made me think of this song and the new remake of it.

Billy Joel originally wrote We Didn't Start the Fire in 1989.

Fall Out Boy recently rewrote Joel's song with updated lyrics to show more current events.

  1. That's a good update to the song. We really seem to be intent on destroying ourselves.

  2. Good choices today. May the One who makes peace in the high places make peace over Israel and over all of us.

  3. Very nice songs and sending prayers for the violence to end.

  4. I have to admit, I am not crazy about the Fall Out Boy update. I understand that Billy Joel was good with someone doing a sequel. The lyrics skip around (in other words they aren't in chronological order, which, for whatever reason, grates on me) but I will give them credit for being able to do this live. His original is a hard song to do live, according to Billy Joel. Wouldn't it be something if Joel invited Fall Out Boy to perform the song in one of his last concerts?

  5. Love Billy Joel's song. I haven't heard it in long time, but I use to know most of the words.. hahaha! He's such a king of song!!! Love that tune! Whoa! I didn't know about this guy rewriting Billy's song... dang! Gonna have to listen to that one a few times so I can figure out what he's sayin'! Thanks for the introduction! Great job my friend.. Sorry I'm late... I had a wake to be at most of the day for my daughter-in-law. Great job! Loved your pickins!!!!

  6. Both songs great history lessons....shame we never learn. Man's inhumanity to man never ceases to grow....sadly I no longer am surprised, I am saddened but no longer shocked. 💜💜

  7. Love these songs but, yes, this war is horrible beyond belief. We are very lucky to be living here. I always loved that Billy Joel song but didn't know the remake. I couldn't hear all the lyrics but will need to look it up.

  9. It's horrible what happened to Israel. I don't like war but sometimes you have to stand up for yourself even when others are against you. Saying prayers for Israel and her people, as well praying for world to rid itself of hate. We're all equal in God's sight. When will humans get that? Thanks for hitting the dance floor. Have a boogietastic week!
