Winter Dog and Winter Teaching Resources on TpT
to see my winter TpT resources and more.
Those who know me, know I love dogs and work trying to save innocents from our high-kill shelter here in Memphis
Two to three weeks ago, I met a beautiful pup named Winter and was determined to save her from euthanization the next day. We had our annual Christmas adoption event the next weekend, so I wrote to two people at the shelter about fostering her until Saturday and bringing her back for the event, so she'd be saved. Word got that Winter was not safe, so I called. When the shelter told me she was unavailable, I went ballistic. I was frantic, as I inquired, "Is she dead?"
She wasn't euthanized but once they go to the ER for the procedure, they may not be fostered. Once again, I pitched a fit and was connected to someone else who reluctantly agreed to let me foster. They kept telling me she would be back on the urgent list if no one rescued her at the event.
I went to the shelter to sign paperwork and was told she couldn't go home until she was fixed. I would get a phone call. The call never came, so I called them. They hadn't gotten around to neutering her, so she would have to stay at the shelter. That's okay! She was alive.
When I came to the shelter on Saturday, I was alarmed by her not being in her kennel. Turns out, someone had fostered to adopt her! Being a little suspicious, I repeatedly asked, if I was the foster? I was told by multiple people, including the director, that someone else had agreed to foster her.
After the event, I learned that I was indeed the foster, and she had missed the event I'd worked hard to save her for. I explained that I was fostering her until after the event, but they didn't quite get it because other people called me, including someone two weeks later telling me she was fixed and ready to be picked up. I once again explained.
Meanwhile, I contacted a friend who did a great job advertising her situation. I don't know how she survived multiple weeks and was not put back on the euthanization list, but it could be the many people pledging money for a rescue to take her.
The day before I was scheduled to take her on a foster field trip to get strong notes on her for advertising, someone came in and adopted this beautiful girl! I pray she went to a good home because she is a sweet and lovable dog.
If you don't have a dog, please consider heading to your nearest shelter. Dogs are great at calming our stress and giving unconditional love. ❤️
Dog rescue can be both rewarding and heartbreaking! Click here to see dogs at our Memphis Animal Shelter. I also work with transporting dogs to forever homes or rescues, so if you see a dog you want but live out of town, we can work to send you a furrever friend.
I have plenty of resources for all ages, but my newest is two logic puzzles for high school. These are tough and made me sweat!

My Life is Going to the Dogs
I've been busy with dog rescue. I took a road trip to a small Tennessee town to drop off a little friend whose life was spared by a kind rescue. I wish I could take every dog home with me, but between our three fur babies and frequent canine visitors, my husband wouldn't be happy with another one. He tells me it's against the law to own four dogs in our community. He might have made that up because I haven't found anything like that online. 😂
As a result, it's taken a while, but I finally finished my new high school logic puzzle set. These are difficult to write, so I have a lot of oopsies before I get ones that work! I am especially fond of the clipart on these puzzles.
Please check this out before the price goes back to normal.

Keep in mind, my store has something for everyone. Last week I brought a fun story to publication for upper elementary readers, and I have a fairly new "Making Inferences" resource for younger kids.

That Silly Story Which Brings a Smile
I'll never forget the day on the playground when a cute, little student showed his classmates how he could make it snow! They all gathered around this silly little guy (who came with an identical goofy twin) and oooed and ahhed over his miniature snowstorm. Thus came my inspiration for this short story called The Floridian Snow.
Your kids will love this story of a boy in southern Florida who wishes and prays for snow in the warm winter. Will he get his wish? Tee hee! He just might.
The story comes complete with eleven vocabulary words and activities, five reading comprehension questions for discussion and answers are included.
Thanks for reading!
