TPT Sale & Tips

On the first day of school, instead of telling the kids about me, I ask them to look around the room and tell me what they can infer about their teacher.

I also like the game where kids pass a ball of yarn and introduce themselves. At the end, we have a cool spider web, plus we show that we are all connected.

One of my favorite writing prompts is to ask, "If you could be an animal, which one would you be and why?" It gives good insights to help learn about the kids.

One year, I had a blast telling a terrific lie to the kids about how I went to Africa with Brad Pitt and Angelina Joli (Ain't gonna happen with those two anymore). At the end of the story after their little eyes grew wide, I confessed that it wasn't true and asked them to write a whopper of a story about their summer vacation.

Whatever you do, have fun on the first day of class, and please, check out my sale.

TPT is having a huge sale on August 3rd & 4th, so guess what? You may stop by my store on the third for an additional 15% off.

The fourth gets even better. I am offering a buy one get one free deal for all of my readers and followers. That's right, send me an email or leave a comment on this post for a free item, of your choice, of equal or lesser value on products purchased on August 4th!

Moving

Late last night, we drove in from Michigan, where we helped our daughter move from Ann Arbor to Detroit. Sorry for the blog absence, but she's still fighting with Comcast to try to get internet. The idiot on the phone kept giving her an Ann Arbor address to go seek help. After the third time, she may have figured out that Judy moved. Going to Comcast in Detroit was worthless, so we picked up a new modem at Meijers that doesn't work despite more phone conversations to learn that she'll have to pay $40 to have someone come out. War is Hell, but moving isn't fun, either. Here's Edwin Starr's, War.

At least moving is good for something.

Judy has some unusually quiet neighbors across the street. They are all dead. The cemetery is Jewish, so everyone figures the ghosts will haunt her if she does anything that's not kosher. Here's a picture of her new, 1920s, house complete with the mess that comes with moving. It is about three times the size of her last home. I love it! Plus, there is no carpet to chew.

Next up, is Fleetwood Mac's take on moving, Go Your Own Way. Judy's move was over a new job, not leaving a lover. Her love moved with her.

I'm a Professional Artist

The definition of a professional is someone who gets paid. I got paid for my artwork, today. I never thought I could be a professional artist.

We are required to  have characters on our
walls for CLUE class. Two teachers hired me to
do their characters for them. I guess that
makes me a professional artist.

Rocking in the 80s

This week, we are rocking in the 80s comedy style. First up is a cute little reminder of those days, if you are old enough to remember. This song is a take off from Billy Joel's, "We Didn't Start the Fire." I know I'm being mean, but I always thought that the biggest injustice in life is to have Christie Brinkley as a mother, yet turn up looking like Billy Joel.

Ben Stiller wants more than being really, really, ridiculously good looking in "Zoolander", so he and his intelligent male model buddies have fun while rocking to George Michael's (Wham), "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." Nothing like a gasoline fight.

Finally, have fun watching one of my favorite videos from the 80s. Paul Simon and Chevy Chase team up together to present, "You Can Call Me Al."

Trump Finances Prison Escapes for Monkeys and Other Living Things

Last week, Zimm the monkey mysteriously escaped from the Memphis zoo. The FBI and CIA have been investigating the so named Monkey-Gate situation only to discover it was masterminded by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who wanted to use the monkey's fur to craft a new toupee.

Apparently,  Trump was so distraught over the legalization of gay marriage that he set out to prove Conservative claims that the legalization of gay marriage will lead to Beastiality. Authorities discovered that Trump paid a zoo keeper $2000 to claim a relationship with the monkey and use power tools to orchestrate her escape. When questioned about the situation, Trump said, "We've got to have stricter border patrol between zoos and civilizations or we will inherit multiple monkey diseases."

What's next for the Trumpster? You've heard it on the news. He's now out to prove his claims against Mexico by tossing a few pesos to the jailers who dug tunnels.

Trump made racially insensitive claims that Mexico sends their worst people to the US.  If that were the case, we should do the same to them and pack up the Trumpster for a long Mexican vacation. Of course being that it's not true, we should still send Donald Trump to Mexico.

July Camping is Mashugana

Our son invited us to go camping in a southern state in the middle of July. If the heat doesn't get ya, the bugs will. I was so ridiculously hot, I didn't even think to get photos of any humans. This is the definition of mashugana.

Someone took a mud bath.

Unexpected Musical Surprises

The cast of the Lion King got stranded at an airport for six hours with the cast of Aladdin, so they had a sing off. I wouldn't have minded being stranded if this happened!

And here's a Les Miserable flash mob at a mall.
Gotta love a good flash mob.

Inside Out

Anger, Fear, Joy, Bing Bong, Sadness, & Disgust

Have you seen Pixar's adorable movie, Inside Out? It's about the emotions inside Riley's head and how these characters work to help her to deal with her problems of moving to a new city. However, the story also has a double plot when two emotions, Joy and Sadness, get lost.

Riley

I like Riley, the cute little girl on the left because she breaks female stereotypes by playing hockey.

The paintings you see of these characters will be going in my classroom, next month. As a CLUE teacher, I am required to have characters in my classroom to support the various CLUE strategies. Each character will have a cute, little saying to go along with them. Riley represents RESEARCH because she likes to research hockey.

I've also used these characters to make products for Teachers Pay Teachers. Disney is ticky about selling their images and will sue for copy right violations, so I couldn't use those pictures. However, my daughter, son's girl friend, and I drew these pictures. Although they resemble the characters, they are not perfect.

Here are my TPT products about Inside Out:
