Daylight and Duets

Although I've never considered myself to be a materialistic person, I do have one possession that is especially dear to me. This morning I spent a good 15 minutes rotating her loving hands through the hours and allowing her to sing her beautiful songs, at each quarter hour, while taking a short rest inbetween. I am happy to say that my grandfather clock is no worse for wear when I gently took her an hour back . . . and then moved her moon one click backwards––which shouldn't bring her harm. I had wanted her ever since I was a child and saw her relatives lining the walls of my father's furniture store. Last spring, she became mine, and although her music may be old to Mitchell, but I never grow tired of her song. Love that clock! Thanks to everyone that had a part of bringing her to me.

This week's Musical Monday Moves Me theme is unconventional duets. Not sure how unconventional these are, but I love these duets, so I'll share!

Also, here is one more song that has been on my mind this week.
I love Alanis Morisette!
Her song is so raw with emotion while having a
stick-in-the-head sort of rhythm.

Nice picks! I remembered Paul and Stevie Wonder, but forgot this one. And the video with Chevy Chase is always worth a giggle.

Your clock is beautiful, and i remember Grandma resetting her clocks years ago. Lovely memories.

Great music choices, too!

I'm so happy you got the clock! I love mine - my hubby got me one for Christmas about 14 years ago after I went on about the one my grandparents had, and the one my parents have. :) Unfortunately after our cross-country move it's not running right now, the big hand came disconnected from the mechanism so it just spins freely - maybe I should put a clock repair person on my Christmas list this year! ;)

Great song choices! I especially love Alanis Morissette - that's one of my all-time favorite songs of hers. :) Have a great week!

Great selections for today! It usually takes me a good 2 weeks to get re-adjusted to the time changes.

Great selections! And I love your grandfather clock. I don't have one myself, but I do love the moon, the swing of the pendulum, and the click of the seconds moving forward. They are all such grand, beautiful pieces of art!

Joyce,

Oh how wonderful to have that clock in your home! It looks beautiful. I also used ‘Say, Say, Say’ in my playlist. Great monds, eh? I briefly thought about using ‘You Can Call Me Al’ bit decided against it. I’m glad to see that you did, though. Alanis Morissette has a unique voice purrfect for displaying an emotional song. Furtastic choices! Thanks for sharing & boogieing with the 4M gang!

I so loved the description of how you lovingly turned back your grandfather clock. I've never owned one. There is one in my office building that is historic, and it is so beautiful. Although both duets were great, the Alanis Morissette song had so much raw emotion in it,singing about her X. Have a good week and may your clock work for many more years! Hey Joyce, it's been a minute! Good to see ya here.
That's a beautiful clock and it's obvious that it's very dear to you. My Mom and Dad had a grandfather clock. It reminded me of theirs so I asked my Mom is she still had it. She does.
I like the moons on yours.

Great songs. I love Alanis Morrisette's song. I hadn't heard it in a while.

Have a great weekend,
