#GBE2: Bucket List

GBE2's topic for the week is "Bucket List," which means things you want to do before you "kick the bucket." My desires are short but mine.

(1) I want to publish a novel. Although my third manuscript is strong, it's been rejected by a few–okay a lot–of agents, but that's their mistake. I mean, who wouldn't want to be engrossed in a story about a teenager running from mob dudes?

My fifth book is also strong, but I have yet to quit polishing it and send it out. It's difficult for an author to drop her hands from the keyboard and say, "This is as good as it's gonna get." Plus, after meeting Linda Sue Park, I'm determined to make every detail and object in the novel count–including the blue bucket. I'm just not there yet; but when I am, hopefully the world will enjoy meeting Knob.

(2) I want to travel to New Zealand and visit Rhonder. I've never been to NZ, Australia, Fiji Islands, or anywhere else in that corner of the world. Unfortunately, we are college poor as we work to educate our young. But one day, I will sell my award winning novel and hop on a plane across the world. Please God, let it not be a Delta flight!

As far as bucket lists go, is there such a thing as an anti-bucket list, aka - things I DON'T want to do? We can call this the mop list since mops take care of what falls out of the bucket... and it's usually a mess to clean up.

I don't want to sky dive. Rhonder did, and it almost killed her.

I don't roller coaster or thrill ride. I even wet my pants on the little log flume at Six Flags.

I have no desire to visit the moon, the bottom of the ocean, or war torn countries.

Call me no fun, but I'm a gal who likes her feet on the ground. Now socially, I have no filter and have been prone to say what comes out of my mouth! If that doesn't make sense, you don't know me. ;-)

I like the mop list idea! I can think of a few things I don't ever want to do also! I don't want to sky dive either. I don't want to rock climb. I have no curiosity about outerspace travel. I don't care a spit about seeing the far East or the Middle East.
Hadn't thought of all the things I don't wanna do before, Joyce, thanks! LOL

Funny post... why can't you achieve your number 1 bucket list? Just get an e-book maker, buy an ISBN and sell on amazon! :-))

Joyce, I cracked up...and almost wet my pants...when I read about you and the log flume at Six Flags! I'm the same way! Have you ever ridden what I call their "little" roller coaster? Its name really is something like Run Away Mine...or something? I scream my head off on that thing! I keep saying I'm actually going to ride a BIG roller coaster someday.....

Yay someone wants to visit my beautiful country. NZ is definitely worth visiting. Good luck with the book.

Great mop list, since I could claim it all, minus the wet pants part. I can at least make it through that small ride w/o embarrassing myself...

NO DELTA FLIGHTS!!! I agree!!

I like your list--very attainable!

You will accomplish this for sure :) Cheers, Jenn.

I have the published novel on my bucket list too. It was "I want to write a novel", but I should have been more specific.

What a silly time to be so far behind in reading. Wow, I am number 2 that is just so cool. Good news - Delta doesn't fly to New Zealand. Take our national carrier and you get your own TV screen and on-demand movies. As for your anti - list, yep I tried the sky diving, I am not going to the moon and we are currently planning a trip to Southeast Asia (including Vietnam and Cambodia) and then on to UAE, Oman and Jordan. Afterall, I have already been to Memphis.

I could definitely make a longer list of things I don't want to do! I like your idea!

I agree with the roller coaster thing. I am a big guy and do not even fit in a lot of them. If they didn't design the seat for a big butt, I am sure the didn't engineer the ride for all my extra weight. I always have visions of train derailments.

You don't like rollercoasters? Hmm, I thought everyone did. I love riding rollercoasters. Gives me that moment of thrill where I just feel free for a moment.

But I have to agree with the moon and ocean thing. Those are also on my anti-bucket list.

Now I'm off to create mine! Enjoyed reading yours, though :)
