After moving to Memphis, several flocks of birds settled on the lawns around me. Why are all these birds here? I thought. Birds are supposed to fly south for the winter. Then it dawned on me, this is the south, and we're stuck with birds pooping on cars all year long. So much for mild winters. They wouldn't be bad except I love snow, and we don't see much.
Summer is another issue. Come July in Memphis, it's hot! Not upper seventies or eighties but hot. Luckily we've only hit the triple digits a few weeks this summer, so it's been a cool year; however, come August, we'll probably be there. Last school year, the kids suffered through indoor recess throughout August because it was too hot to play outside.
None-the-less, I still go for runs but leave the fur faces behind. One can get used to heat, which will be good for me in the after life. ;)

ha funny pic....it is hot...thank goodness the birds are not that agressive though...ha...oh my....its the humidity here...brutal...
Even hot in Canada these days. It was 95F today , but the humidity factor drove it up to 109F! That cartoon always make me laugh, but, the one I saw wasn't quite as polite. :-D Nasty birds; yuck!
I didn't know you lived in TN., I thought you lived in Fl. :) Guess it goes to show I'm not paying very good attention.
LOL to the popcorn pic, and ew to the car pic.
We get snow. Lots of it. You can take as much as you want when it gets here. ;)
I'm from Nebraska, later moved to Georgia, then back to Nebraska.
I understand about the birds, the heat and the lack of snow. When it did snow in Georgia everything was shut down. It was so odd!
In Nebraska nothing gets shut down unless it's really bad. Then it's just schools that shut down.
Now that's hot....when you have weeks of triple digit numbers I am amazed that you still can RUN in weather that warm.
It's been quite hot here, too, for the past week, mid 30's, low 40's with the humidex. (That's Celcius of course!)
The image is really funny!! And those birds? Huh...:)
My vehicle looked kind of like that after church one day. I had parked under an egret's nest! That's a lot of poop. And, yeah, it's hot, but I'm noticing it less than usual this year. Maybe staying inside too much.
I might be crazy, but I absolutely LOVE the heat. I feel like I am hitting a brick wall of heat when I go out, but it really makes me happy to sweat my butt off out there.
Yes, it will no longer park on the site!
OOps!! the car
Feel sorry for the car. The pic of the corn cob is funney. But in Mumbai its coooool
Made me smile. Enjoyed this
YUCK!!!!!
New meaning to angry birds!
That car picture is sort-of gross!!! We are going to be driving through your great state later today (headed to Florida!).
I could live someplace that never snowed and be totally happy!!!
eww to the car pic and the corn pic is really funny :)
Oh, my running in that heat, wow. I can't stand bird poop on my car but I rather it land there than on me.

Can only imagine how hot it must be for you in the South! Not sure how I would react if I walked outside to find my car looking like that! That cartoon is so funny!
happy you don't take the furry ones into the heat. I take mine out at 5 AM to make sure ... you have great way to prepare for the after life but I think I'll just wait until I get there..
Old Grizz
I love that corn picture. LOL

Yup, I have seen cars get like that here in SoCal but with this heat we have been having even the birds seem to be trying to get out of it. The dogs seem to be sleeping most of the day because it is too hot to do anything else and then they are running around at night chasing the night creatures like the possums. If one of the pits can catch a possum then it is a goner. My pits are not too good at catching them but the female next door can get them. Maybe mine wear them out and just play with them but next door she does not like them. So I have decided they are running as much as they want right now and sometimes the grandkids run at night with them but I would only walk them right now. Love when the birds sing though. I wish you could be like us here in So Cal, we live in the valleys and if you want snow then you just drive 20 minutes to the mountains and you can have all the snow you want. I just step out to the front yard and look to the north, east, or west and see those mountains covered in snow. That is good enough for me. I feel like I had a snow day. We have the best winters, seriously. Hottest damn summers though. Mountains are cool but they always have fires.
Thanks for playing with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. Hope it cools down for you there. And stay cool on those runs, especially in August.
God bless.
Thanks for linking up with the Friday Flash Blog. I hope you checked out the highlighted posts as well as everyone’s terrific entries. Have a fabulous weekend!
