"I wake up every morning at nine and grab for the morning paper. Then I look at the obituary page. If my name is not on it, I get up." ~Benjamin Franklin
My name wasn't in the paper, so I survived after the "M" post. Are you ready for N?
When it comes to "Names," I've had a few. Growing up as the youngest of four children, my mother called me, "Ed, I mean Bar, I mean Be, I mean Joyce!" Good thing the dog's name didn't come before mine.
Then there was dinner time when I wanted to know my Hebrew name. My parents might have given me one at birth but couldn't remember it multi-years later, so my brother told me my name was, "Boris."
"No! What is my Hebrew name?" I'd ask.
He repeated, "Boris!"
Finally, I got married and had to know my Hebrew name. As it turns out, I don't actually have one because my name is Yiddish. "Sheindel." At least it's better than Boris.
"One thing they never tell you about child raising is that for the rest of your life, at the drop of a hat, you are expected to know your child's name and how old he or she is." ~Erma Bombeck

The cartoon is hilarious :)
LOL! I have five kids--and sometimes the dog's name comes before their name... I just had to laugh out loud at that :)
Cheers, Jenn.
Names. I'm always mixing my boys up. "where's Ryan?" I'll ask Ryan. Who is right in front of me, meaning Kenny.. I get a lot of eye rolling.
Too cute - names are my nemesis. I can know someone's voice over the phone in a heartbeat (20 years in reception will do that to you) but have an awful time connecting a name to a face in person!
Haha! Sometimes we go through 3 or 4 names until we get it right..."Aaron, Daniel, Matthew..I mean Dave!" :o)
Boris? Boris?! That's hilarious.
I was born in that time when parents choose cutely matching names, so my sisters' names and mine are all similar, lending to endless name-calling confusion.
My name is Kimberlee and sometimes I do wish my mom had spelled it LY.
I have a bunch of nieces and nephews with creatively spelled names and it bugs me that I always have to look it up before writing out their birthday card. Seriously, what's wrong with plain and simple, especially for the guys? EX: Darien (Daryann) Dylan (Dillon)
And in person, I have the hardest time remember someone's name unless I've visually seen it on a name badge.
Heheheh... You are a kick... I love to laugh, and you make me laugh Boris... er em... Joyce! :-)
Dear Joyce, Love the cartoon. Have a great day. blessings, Catherine xo

I don't know...Boris has kind of a fun ring to it...
oh, yes.. my mom listed 9 names (all the siblings above me, in age) before she finally landed on my given name... not sure if it's inherited, as i do the same things with my kids.. :)
You must have been special to come before the dog's name.
Boris, it is. ♥
Love Boris! My name is super unique and I never find it anywhere! No cute pens with my name on it, coffee mugs with my name on it, magnets with my name on it! boo!
little piece of aloha
My grandma will sometimes go through her husband's and children's names before she gets to me. She only had boys. As a Rebecca, that's kind of insulting.
Great post :)
I'm so used to being called my sisters names (and my brother) that a few weeks ago someone at work accidentally called me by my sister's name and I didn't even think before I answered her. Then after she left...I was like, did she just call me M..."?
Boris sounds so much more beautiful when pronounced properly, Bah-REECE. It's long been one of my top favorite Russian male names (and my own fictional antagonist Boris was the subject of my B day).
